Find recordings of works on Apple Music

When you choose a work Classical automatically searches Apple Music for available recordings. Each recording shows just the tracks for the selected work. Track names are shown in full with the work name removed for readability. Apple Music subscribers can start playback from within the app.

Search and filter

Search by composer and work name. Filter works by chamber, vocal, keyboard, orchestral and stage.


See a timeline of composers from the 12th Century to the current day. Access detailed playlists of essential works. Links to Wikipedia for more information about composers and musical terminology.


What do I need to run the app?

Classical is available for iPhones and iPads running iOS 14, and macOS 11 (Big Sur).

Where does all the data come from?

Classical uses data from Information about composers comes from Wikipedia.

Is every single piece of classical music in here?

The Classical database currently features 24,947 works from 220 composers. If you have a composer or work you would like to see added get in touch!

Why do some works not find any recordings?

When you select a work Classical searches Apple Music using the work name and catalog number and then analyzes the results. This analysis relies on the title of the tracks in Apple Music and the associated metadata. More information...
